Afropavo Plumage “Peacock Feathers”
LOOK 4
December 2025
The initial design for this look featured a caged off shoulder structure and made of ombré Kente and lined with silk, with 10+ yards of liquid mikado winding down the piece. This was meant to symbolise the natural yet mechanical structure of the feathers of a peacock. This piece took 104 hours of garment construction and hand beaded embroidery. Peacocks have individually varied feather patterns, and they raise their trains selectively, primarily during courtship or display situations rather than constantly. We chose this concept to highlight the idea that creativity does come from God. Creativity is not linear, though many creatives have similar talents and ideas, each outcome is unique to the creators experience. Just like how each of us created in the Lord’s image (Genesis 1:27, NIV) has our own unique outcome. We parallel the peacock in this way.
