Spider Trail

LOOK 7

December 2025

This gown features 32 hours of garment construction and hand-beaded embroidery. It was the second official design in the collection and draws inspiration from a spider’s web covered in dew. The concept was chosen after the Creative Director encountered a dew-covered spiderweb on her way to school nearly a decade ago. This moment of natural beauty deeply captivated the designer and led her to realise that she, too, was “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). The piece is crafted entirely from black liquid mikado and lined with Italian silk. The essence of the spider, one of God’s many unique creations, is expressed through a web motif on the front bodice, with a spider design cascading down the back and extending to the train. As the gown is backless, a three-dimensional web was incorporated into the open back, created using elastic thread and the same clear glass beads featured on the front. Unfortunately, the 3D web suffered a break shortly before the model stepped onto the runway, which is why an image of the completed look in the studio has been included. Overall, this piece is intended to celebrate one of God’s greatest artistic inspirations: the spider.
